Introduction to Occupational Moral Injury

This online course, presented by Kari James, an ACA-registered counsellor and supervisor, offers an introduction to moral injury. Its aim is to provide an orientation to this mental health phenomenon and equip students with a basic understanding of key concepts and evidence-based practices.

Kari James has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master of Counselling, and is currently in the third year of a PhD. Throughout her career, she has worked as a counselor in various settings, primarily focused on trauma and grief. Additionally, she has worked in research, policy, and professional training, with a primary focus on occupational stress and trauma for high-risk workforces.

As the subject of Kari's PhD, moral injury is a topic of particular interest to her. Her research builds on her previous background in research and policy for high-risk workforces. During the course, Kari will be sharing some of the findings from her research, providing insight into the cutting edge of this field of inquiry. She hopes that students will continue to stay updated on future research, in service of evidence-based best practice.
