A competent Clinical/Professional Supervisor for counsellors and psychotherapists should be able to conduct supervision sessions using various supervision interventions, provide effective evaluation and feedback to supervises as well as address the ethical and legal considerations of supervision.
The RISE UP Certificate of Attainment in Professional Supervision was designed by Dr Philip Armstrong the former CEO of the Australian Counselling Association. The program was written over 15 years ago and has trained hundreds of counsellors from all backgrounds, including members of the ACA College of Supervisors and the PACFA College of Supervisors.
Course participants will need to purchase and read “The Practice of Clinical and Counselling Supervision” 2017, Australian Academic Press to meet pre-course reading and assessments criteria. The book can be purchased directly from the publisher by emailing: stephen@australianacademicpress.com.au

The RISE UP training program is a three-day workshop with a pre-course study requirement, designed to provide supervision training for Mental Health professionals including clinical counsellors who are currently, or are going to be, responsible for the practice of other mental health workers and counsellors.
Our RISE-UP supervision training course consists of:
Three-day face-to-face practical training course:
Day 1:
Group Supervision training including a specifically designed group supervision RISE UP tool.
Day 2:
Individual Supervision training, including case study scenarios and ethical issues. Topics covered include the theory of supervision, best practice, professional supervision, required skills, content of sessions, different settings and forms of supervision, supervisor, and supervisee responsibilities, legal and risk management issues, legislation, frontline management supervision, internal versus external supervision, issues in applying professional supervision, resistant supervisees, notetaking and record keeping, mental health Issues transference, stress, anxiety, conflict, and potential burnout, consent forms and ethics.
Day 3:
Assessment that is practical and brilliantly unique to the RISE UP model as an invaluable learning experience. Extra highly trained and credentialed assessors join our team on this day for additional support.
